Liberty, Separation of Powers, and Government by Bureaucracy
ABSTRACT
This conference was to help better understand the changing conception of government and its relationship to modern American society during the Progressive Era. Specifically, we examined constitutional issues of the separation of powers and the increasing concentration of functions in the hands of various agencies of government as they came to assume a central place in the Progressive understanding of the need for expert management over the economy and society.
