Liberty, Centralization, and the Modern State

ABSTRACT

This conference addressed the subject of liberty within the context of the centralization of power and the modern state. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of progressivism in transforming the understanding and practice of liberty in deviation from the original understanding that forms the core of the American political tradition.
