Political Theory

Liberty and Responsibility in the Major Works of Samuel P. Huntington

ABSTRACT

This colloquium examined the central place of responsibility and liberty in the work of the late Harvard political scientist Samuel P. Huntington. Huntington is widely regarded as one the most wide-ranging and influential political scientists of the twentieth century, having made major intellectual contributions in all four fields of political science: international relations, comparative politics, political theory, and American politics. In addition to his many scholarly contributions, Huntington’s work also had significant policy impact throughout his career.
