Economics and Liberty in Film and Fiction
ABSTRACT
This conference examined readings, films, and television adaptations that look at the way commerce and enterprise are portrayed in the nineteenth century and today. It looked at works that defend and articulate the “bourgeois ethic” and others that sharply criticize them. All of these works are also concerned with the connection between trade, individual integrity, and the basis of a free society.
